New: Kenmore’s Moorlands Neighborhood: Country Living With Modern Conveniences

Posted on Mar 9, 2018

This week, I get to talk about one of my favorite things to write about for Pickett Street: listings for new homes. I love interior design, and I find it very exciting to imagine the family or individual who gets to call each new listing their home.

And this newly listed 4-bedroom, 2.5-bath, 2,200-square-foot Moorlands home is particularly lovely. With hardwood floors, an open floor plan, a spacious kitchen, a gas fireplace, and a master bedroom with a big walk-in closet, double sinks, and a soaking tub, the home’s features radiate comfort and peaceful living. Other perks include a large deck, a fully fenced backyard, and a highly convenient location.

Kenmore’s Moorlands neighborhood sits between Inglemoor and Inglewood. Tucked away in the northeastern corner of Lake Washington, Kenmore was founded in 1901 by Scottish settlers, which perhaps explains the origins of the neighborhood name.

While it doesn’t exactly have foggy moors or Scottish castles, the city is home to excellent schools in the Northshore school district, beautiful parks, and a generally safe, peaceful atmosphere. Here’s some more information about the listing and the area. (Make sure to also check out our neighborhood profile on Kenmore.)

Neighborhood Vibe
In 2018, Kenmore ranked as the eighth best suburb to buy a home in Washington. This high ranking is partly due to the fact that Kenmore, and particularly its Moorlands neighborhood, is close to several schools, grocery stores, restaurants, and parks.

Moorlands residents mention that the best things about their neighborhood are its trees and parks, and the area’s quiet, clean, and peaceful vibes. Kenmore’s residents also note that living in this city is like country living, but with the convenience of stores and other amenities close by.

Things to Do
This home is within a mile of both Inglewood Golf Club and Saint Edward State Park, which, as most residents agree, is one of the best spots in Kenmore. Situated on Lake Washington, the park features playgrounds, grassy fields, and walking and running trails.

Additionally, the Moorlands neighborhood is home to The Guest House, a new-ish restaurant with a homey vibe and cuisine made with local ingredients. (I’m currently drooling right now over descriptions of their wood-fired pizzas.) Pickett Street’s newest listing is a nine-minute walk from this restaurant, which would make it easy for whoever lives there to enjoy a relaxing meal out (and try some of that pizza).

Moorlands residents also cite the nearby Alexa’s Cafe, Third Place Books, and Cinebarre Mountlake as favorite local spots.
